i love english, it gives me a colorful dream. i hope i can travel around the world one day. with my good english, i can make friends with many people from different countries. i can see many places of great intrests. i dream that i can go to london, because it is the birth place of english.
i also want to use my good english to introduce our great places to the english spoken people, i hope that they can love our country like us.
i know, rome was not built in a day. i believe that after continuous hard study, one day i can speak english very well.
if you want to be loved, you should learn to love and be lovable. so i believe as i love english everyday , it will love me too.
i am sure that i will realize my dream one day!
thank you!
it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world, change ourselves.
it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming increasingly popular day by day, while chinese traditional festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about 10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity announced that we should reject the invasion of western holidays ,because they regard western holidays as an challenge against our traditional festivals and culture.
frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with ed, we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions. (examples) why can’t we absorb the meaningful western holidays and culture.
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and meaningful, such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other hand, the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend, chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.
with the further development of the whole world, the cultural communication between different countries and nations becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world, so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our ancesters left for us.
at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all of you ,that is:if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first.”
if you ask me what is the most precious, i would say that it’s time. time is something once lost, you could never have again. therefore, we should cherish it and spend it in meaningful things. however, many people do too many meaningless things to kill their time, such as playing computer, watching tv, or gossiping. when you do these things, the time has long been unwittingly flowed away. in my opinion, the best way to make full use of time is planning your time rationally and sticking the plan firmly. spending more time on something significant not only will make your life fulfilling, but also will give you a sense of accomplishment. instead, killing your time with meaningless things would bring you depression even despair. remember that those who abandon time will be also abandoned by time.
ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! isquo;m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is youth. i hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.
first i want to ask you some questions:
1、 do you know what is youth?
2、 how do you master your youth?
youth
youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.
years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being squo;s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of whatsquo;s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart theresquo;s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .
when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
thank you!
you may wonder if i believe in afterlife. my answer is: i know nothing about my previous life, so i dare not make improper comments on afterlife. but i do hope theresquo;s afterlife! because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. i have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. if there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
isquo;m not contented with the present commonplace life, isquo;m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and i yearn for the perfection and maturity if i could start all over again. so believe it or not, isquo;d rather there were afterlife.
ben: hello, everyone. it’s my honor to talk about dream and responsibility. my dream is to work in the field of ai, artificial intelligence. ai has been widely used in many walks of life nowadays. have you ever heard the news that the world champion of go, kejie, was defeated by arobot, alpha go. it is proved that ai is highly intelligent and efficient. ifwe used it well, the world would be a better place for every mankind.
“we have the most dedicated teachers, the mostsupportive parents, and the best school in my mind ---but none of them will matter unless we fulfill our responsibilities, unless we do the hard work ittakes to succeed.” that’s what i want to say today: we should be responsiblefor our own education.
ben: hi, i heard you would be a scientist in the future, annie?
annie: yes, my dream is to be a scientist. i hope that one day ican make a spaceship for my country although the way won’t be easy i know. so it’s not only my dream and my future, but also the dream and future of our country. we have the responsibility to make our country better and stronger to meet the great challenges in the future. it’s also chinese dream to everyone.
alex:my dream is not so concrete like yours. my dream is to make gender notas a barrier for everyone, that is, men and women should be equal. in china, there are still hundreds and thousands of girls who cannot receive education. i hope they can go into schools and sit in the classrooms like us today. we should cherish our opportunity being educated in such a wonderful environment.we should take the responsibility to learn and work hard, dear fellow students!
rain: i totally agree with you, alex. in our daily life, we should be compassionate and careful enough to help our friends, just like confucius said “don’t fail to do good even if it is small.” we also need the knowledge and problem-solving skills we learn to cure diseases like cancer and ebola. it’s our responsibility.
jason: we will get strength and power through learning. the greater power means the greater responsibilities. we should help people who are struggling in poverty and homelessness. it’s our responsibility.
vanesa: right! we learn not only for ourselves or our families, but for others and for ourcountry. we have the responsibility to be creative and initiative to boost our economy and protect our environment. we have the responsibility to be altruists and say no to “egoism”. it’s our responsibility.
lisa: let us be courageous to take our responsibilities. “there is no excuse that says: “that’s just how things are done there.” we should be the last people to accept it, and the first to change it.” yes, we can change the world through knowledge-learning, through hard-working and through our great efforts.
stephanie: i know it won’t be easy, but the best education we’ve received now and we will receive in the future gives us opportunities that we are the uniquely qualified and responsible, to build a better world for everyone.
stephanie: dear fellow graduates, congratulates and best wishes for all of you!

sometimes, what makes us relaxed and leaves us with a lighter feeling is enjoying the freedom of dreaming about good things. we can freely think of things that would do our lives more good than harm. we hope these things will happen in our lives some day.
dreaming is free. each of us has our own dreams. also, the way we deal with things in our dreams shows us who we can really be in real life. we tend to act based on what kinds of dreams we have, but we also have the freedom to make those dreams come true.
to me, a dream is a picture of the place where we want to find ourselves some day. a dream is like a design of how we want things to look by the time we get there.
dreaming keeps us in motion; it keeps us going.
